Home Up Playground plan

A playground is what we insist in every suburb or county that we live in, in Western society, but the kids in India do not have a playground in most suburb or villagers. In India, especially the south the streets are their playground, where the kids games are always interrupted by adults using the streets. In the west, the kids would react but for village kids this is the way of life. Hope that this does not imply that we are trying to westernize the kids, just giving that what they most enjoy doing. See the sports page by click here to see where the kids play now at the center

Now when the kids come here they use the pathways that we have setup in the property, the girls to play skipping rope or the boys playing cricket or soccer. Both games do sometime destroy the plants that they are learning to appreciate.

We have always had a space in mind for a playground as part of our school building project, as funds are limited, we had to shelve it. As the need for the playground is important for the betterment of the kids we decided to clear some bush land with thorny plants where we were meant to build more cottages. Two months ago, we started clearing the area, and sold the thorny plants for firewood. On April 15, 2006, most of the kids will have school holiday, and they will start preparing the ground as part of the school holiday project. Mainly picking up whatever thorns that are left over by the clearance.
Most of the major clearance will be done by employing local village women who we employ time to time. After that, we will hire an earthmover or a JCP to level the ground.

On leveling the ground we have to fill it with gravel dust and then earth that will harden the ground, rather then clay what we have. Then planting grass, which has to be bought, and with daily care it will cover the whole ground.

Then comes good playing equipments, all this cost money, that we are gradually running out off. So far, Shri Param Eswaran has been financing the project through his workshop tours in the west, and as the project demands his presence, he has not been able to tour, and this has prevented us from generating any more funds.

For the project to go on we need your help urgently, so please send us your donations to-day
